Activating Your Badge

After purchase, activation binds the badge to your identity key and makes it ready for use.

When you purchase a HeartBadge membership — directly, through an event ticket bundle, or as a redeemed gift code — the badge is minted on-chain but isn't yet bound to your identity. Activation is the step that connects the badge to you and makes it ready to earn, send, and scan.

What happens during activation

  1. You receive a link or code. After payment clears, you'll get an email (or, if you redeemed a gift code, you'll already be in the activation flow) with a unique activation link.
  2. You create or sign in to your account. If you're new, you'll create a HeartBadge account with email verification. If you already have an account, you sign in.
  3. Your identity key is generated or recovered. Your badge needs an identity key — the cryptographic key that proves ownership and signs transactions. If this is your first badge, a new key is derived for you. If you already have a badge, your existing key is used.
  4. The badge is bound to your key. An on-chain transaction updates the badge's UTXO to reference your identity key. This is irreversible and verifiable. From this moment, the badge is yours.
  5. You see your badge card. Activation is complete. Your badge appears in your wallet with its 20-digit identifier, its program branding, and its starting HRTB level.

How long it takes

Most activations complete in under 30 seconds. If the network is congested or you're activating during a large event, it may take up to a few minutes. You can close the page and come back — the activation will continue in the background.

If something goes wrong

  • Link expired. Activation links expire after 7 days. If yours has expired, contact support@heartbadge.com with your order confirmation to get a fresh link.
  • Email not received. Check your spam folder. If it's not there, contact support with your order details.
  • Activation stuck. If you see "Activating..." for more than 5 minutes, refresh the page. If it's still stuck, contact support.

After activation

Once your badge is activated:

  • Your badge card appears with a rotating barcode you can scan at events.
  • Your rewards wallet is ready to receive MNEE.
  • Your HRTB status starts at 1× and climbs as you participate.

You're ready to show up, scan in, and start earning.
